The sport headphones market is expanding even further with a recent announcement from Denon.
Audiophiles should rejoice as Denon is a premier electronics manufacturer. Their last line of headphones was released in 2010, so they’ve been due for a big announcement. Unfortunately there isn’t a whole lot of information on the new line. During a D&M Holdings press conference they recently announced a total of 11 new headphones in a new line that will also include iOS apps with each pair.
The one pair that caught our attention was the Exercise Freak, a new pair of headphones targeted specifically towards exercising. At first glance they look very similar to the Motorola SF600, so it will be interesting to see how they compare. They consist of neckband, Bluetooth earbuds with a microphone built into the earphone.
Below we show the Denon Exercise Freak in yellow, but they are also expected to be available in black and blue.
To our knowledge there is no official release date yet, and if you visit their site one of the announcements on the front page is a blank slide that reads “Coming soon, a new pair of Denon headphones designed to fit every lifestyle.”
The Exercise Freak is more than just a cool name. As we mentioned above each pair of headphones will come with its own iOS app for your iPhone or iTouch and integration with Apple products is expected to be seamless. These headphones are rumored to cost $149, which is the most expensive pair of sport headphones we’ve come across since the Monster iSport.
This is the first pair of workout headphones by Denon that we’ve come across, so stay tuned for more information when they release.
