We can’t even count the number of times we’ve bashed Apple for shipping such cruddy earbuds with all their devices.  Most of the earbuds by Apple are quite possibly the worst headphones for working out, which is one of the reasons we set out to find the best iPhone sports headphones.

Well, now Apple may be revamping their earbuds for the iPhone 5 release.  Thanks to Vietnamese site Tinh te a video has been released showing what the future may hold. Check out the video below:

EARBUDi Clips are essentially just what they look and sound like, clips for your earbuds.

While these may work for most earbuds they are specifically tailored to work with the Apple earbuds.  For some odd  reason we know a lot of people still love those little white earbuds that came with their iPod.  If that’s the case with you then definitely consider grabbing these ear hooks before your next workout.

Essentially they are just small silicone ear fins that attach to your Apple earbuds and help add a secure fit.  Once fit over the earphone the ear fins will sit just outside the ear canal keeping your earbuds from ever falling out, perfect for the active listener.

 
We love Apple, but man their earbuds are horrible for working out.  Sure you can get the in-ear canal ones with the soft silicone tips that expand in your ear canal for a better fit, but even those aren’t that great.

Acoustibuds solves that problem with the addition of their soft tips to your earbuds. This may not be the absolute best headphones solution, but it is likely one of the cheapest.  The soft tips have two man functions 1) increase security by using an in-ear canal fit to help keep them in place, 2) increase sound quality.

We agree, they do increase security in terms of fit, but sound quality wasn’t really changed.  It does however allow you to decrease the volume and still maintain the same clarity since the music is closer to your inner ear.

As far as underwater pictures are concerned then we think so.  The TAT7 motto is “Light Weight, Action Packed, Camera Case.”  And they deliver just that.

It doesn’t have all the functionality of the Lifeproof case, but if you’re a serious diver who doesn’t want to drop hundreds of dollars on expensive underwater cameras then this is definitely the way to go.  It’s also perfect for all those snorkeling excursions or even a trip to the slopes.

Unfortunately we weren’t able to test every single workout app available, but we did look into quite a few.  We also took a look at what other people were claiming the best workout apps were just to compare notes.

BeatBurn

It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that this app was at the top of our list.  Created by lolo, BeatBurn capitalizes on the use your favorite workout tunes to energize your workout by changing the beat of your music to match your pace.

Play your own music or use 1 of 24 built in fitness songs, perfect for the days you’re just a little tired of your same old playlist but still want the added energy of music.

RunKeeper

This is the one workout app that everyone seemed to have on their list and while we would love to disagree, it’s tough to beat RunKeeper.  You may have noticed how incredibly expensive GPS running watches are, well they just got a lot cheaper with RunKeeper.  Map our your runs using the built in GPS in your iPhone or add them manually if you hit up the treadmill.

Lose It!

Lose It! is very similar to the already popular My Fitness Pal, with a little bit of a more user friendly interface.  It’s basically a budget for your body.  Track your calories and exercise each day to ensure you stay within budget and watch the pounds melt right off.

Fitness Buddy

As of writing this Fitness Buddy was one of the most popular workout apps in the fitness market.  Fitness Buddy takes a little bit getting used to, as it’s one of the more complex apps, but with over 1700 workouts available and your own personal workout journal it’s hard to beat.

Nike + GPS

It’s hard to have a featured apps list without including something by Nike.  They revolutionized the workout market when they created Nike + and eventually teamed with Apple.  This app is actually somewhat similar to RunKeeper and while RunKeeper seems to have a slight edge the social addition of tracking between friends and family along with Nike’s online support may eventually push this app to the top.

BudFits: How Do They Work?

If you’ve ever worn your Apple earbuds to the gym you may have encountered one of the main problems of using them as workout earbuds: they don’t tend to have a very secure fit.

Most sports earbuds utilize a neckband, ear hook, ear fin, or some other type of positive connection to ensure your headphones don’t fall off during a workout.  Unfortunately the white earbuds that come with your iPod or iPhone don’t contain any such feature.

The BudFits solve this problem by allowing you to attach a soft silicone ear hook directly to the base of the earbud.  You simply place the earbud inverted into your ear and wrap the ear hook over the outside of your ear (see the picture below).

We don’t actually recommend using the Apple earbuds if you’re serious about your training; they just aren’t going to withstand the abuse of an intense workout (or any workout for that matter).  But if you insist and not using sports headphones then the least you can do is add a little bit of style to your earbuds.
