Bluetooth headphones have come a long ways over the last couple years, and 2011 was really the first year they shined as workout headphones. As technology continues to improve the future of workout headphones may be in the hands of Bluetooth.
Let’s get down to it. Here is the criteria we used to to choose our Best Bluetooth Headphones of 2011:
General Criteria
We previously outlined our general criteria for best sports headphones here.
Bluetooth Criteria
- Bluetooth connectivity. The connection between the headphones and the MP3 device has to be good. In addition we typically like to see a range of least 30 feet, which allows you more flexibility in using the device, especially if you like to workout at home.
Best Bluetooth Sports Headphones of 2011
It’s always tough to narrow it down to just 3, but here is our list for Best Bluetooth Sports Headphones of 2011:
Number 1 – Motorola S305 Bluetooth Stereo Headset
Motorola has been absolutely crushing the Bluetooth sports headphones market for the past couple years. Their Motorola S305 continues to not only be one of the most popular Bluetooth headphones, but also headphones in general. Motorola continues to improve their technology, as evidenced here. But for now the S305 are top dog.
Number 2 – Jaybird SB2MB Sportsband
Unlike Motorola, Jaybird is new to the scene of workout headphones in the last year or two. However, they’ve revolutionized the market by not only creating headphones that sound great and are perfect for your next workout, but also headphones that look great too.
Number 3 – Plantronics BackBeat 903 Headset
We were torn on our number 3 pick this year, but we ended up going with the BackBeat 903 by Plantronics. One thing that really bothered us was the lack of sweat-resistance in this headphone. But, and this is a big “but,” the features on this pair of sports headphones are unmatched. Plantronics excels in audio speakers and it clearly shows that they know what they’re doing when it comes to sound.
What to expect in 2012?
With iPhone and Android dominating the smart phone market, expect to see more and more Bluetooth workout headphones tailored specifically for these phones. The possibilities in the Bluetooth market are endless, and we’re excited to see what lies ahead.
